The book takes readers through the “9 C’s of a Winning Community” and shows them the importance of leading change. It also gives a systematic process for creating a community vision and action plan and working toward its achievement.
A workbook portion outlines the detailed process of becoming a Winning Community, complete with timelines, agendas, worksheets and sample reports. The book shares important lessons about organizations, leadership qualities and the keys to creating a winning community - a community in which leaders and citizens unite with a common vision and work together to achieve their goals.
About the Author:
With more than 30 years of experience in community and economic development, James T. Dittoe has helped local communities gain thousands of jobs and millions of dollars of capital for value-added community projects. Formerly CEO for chambers of commerce and economic development councils in several states, Jim held leadership positions with state and national Chamber of Commerce Executives Associations, was active in several economic development councils, and has been involved in numerous economic development studies. He has taught community analysis at Notre Dame University, the University of Georgia, and the University of Delaware, and has been an honored speaker at many events, retreats and conferences.
Jim established Winning Communities in 1994 to help communities envision the future and develop goals and action plans for achievement. His Certified Winning Community program, which is endorsed by the Association of Indiana Counties, the Community Bankers Association of Illinois and the Indiana Bankers Assocaition, helps ensure communities follow through with goals outlined in their strategic plans to achieve success.
Jim and his wife Jan reside in Carmel, Indiana where they spend time with their three adult children and eight grandchildren.
